Rankings start from the keywords you choose. Each one is a paid lookup on every run, so track what the client is actually judged on.

  1. Add keywords

Open the client's Client settings. Under Tracked keywords, add keywords one per line. They're ranked on every tracking run.

  2. Add competitors

In the same place, under Competitors, add their domains one per line. Share of voice compares the client against these domains; with none it stays empty.

  3. Capture

Rankings are captured on a daily sweep for every tracker that's due. To capture now, choose Capture rankings on the client's Overview.

Reading the Rankings page

  • Keywords by position — how many keywords sit in each position band, day by day, over 30 days, 90 days or 180 days, with the average position of keywords that rank and the client's visibility.

  • Keywords — every tracked keyword with its position and ranking page. Filter by tag, add tags (separated by commas), and pin the ones you report on. Open a row for its 90-day history.

  • Search features held — features such as a featured snippet the client's pages hold on the results page.

  • Ranking page changed — keywords where a different page of the site now ranks. Pages taking turns usually means two pages competing for one keyword.

A keyword with nothing captured shows a dash, not a position. "Not ranking" and "not measured" are different facts, and the page keeps them apart.

Want ideas for what to track? Use the Keywords explorer and send what's worth chasing straight onto the client's tracker.
